Marching Leopard Band Competes at Central Carroll High School

The Marching Leopard Band participated in their second marching competition of the season Saturday, October 1, at Central Carroll HS in Carrollton, Georgia

Banks competed against many surrounding counties such as Union, Baldwin, Heard, Madison, and Jackson. There were over twenty schools at the competition.

Banks County High School earned the following rankings:

Drum Major: I rating (score of 91) 2nd place in Class A

Dance Team: I rating (score of 85) 1st place in Class A

Color Guard: II rating (score of 84) 3rd place in Class A

Percussion: I rating (score of 87) 3rd place in Class A

Band: II rating (average score of 82.3) 4th place in Class A

Although the judging was very competitive, Band Director John Congdon believed his program had a good performance. “We had to compete in front of some tough judges, and we have some things to work on, but we gave a good performance,” he stated.

“A couple of our members were not feeling well, but after our performance, I felt the band really stepped up and performed very well. The judges only see us once, but as a teacher, you see the students go through the ebbs and flow of the season and know what we have stacked against us. So, I was very proud of them. We did have some holes in the marching drill, and I am sure that counted against us, but musically and choreography-wise, it was one of our best performances regarding pride and the energy level shown. As a teacher and director, I feel that is the most important thing: to show improvement and the will to want to do well and do their best”, he added.

The Leopard Band travels to Flowery Branch HS on October 22nd.
