Banks County Teachers and Administrators Visit Ron Clark Academy

Members of the Banks County faculty had the incredible opportunity to visit the renowned Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. Educators Abby Ramsey, Jason Sexton, Gatlin Boswell, Sam Steele, Assistant Principal Kaila Steele, and  Assistant Superintendent Joy Edwards visited the school. The academy is celebrated for its innovative teaching methods and unwavering commitment to student engagement.

Georgia Power sponsored the trip.

Jason Sexton shared his awe-inspiring experience: "I didn't know what to expect when visiting Ron Clark Academy. The videos showcased students standing on desks, singing, dancing, and sliding down the giant indoor slide. What blew me away was the level of student engagement in each classroom. 4th-grade students confidently answered questions, addressing their teacher, classmates, and over 50 educators. The interpersonal skills these students learn go beyond the curriculum; they are ingrained in the school's culture. While some things may be unique to RCA, some methods can be applied in any school. Grateful for the visit and eager to share insights with others in the Banks County School System."

Abby Ramsey echoed the sentiment: "The Ron Clark Academy truly was inspiring. The positive energy from students and staff is invigorating. The entire school promotes confidence, belonging, learning, and fun. From workshops to live classrooms, I was captivated by their methods and look forward to learning more throughout the two days. Excited about implementing some of the observed methods for our BC students."

The visit to RCA has sparked enthusiasm and a commitment to bringing innovative ideas back to Banks County.
