Banks County High School Students Shine in Statewide "Laws of Life" Essay Contest

During the 2024–2025 school year, several Banks County High School 10th-grade English Language Arts students participated in the Georgia Rotary Clubs' Laws of Life Essay Contest. This statewide writing initiative encourages students to reflect on personal values and life lessons through narrative storytelling.

The Laws of Life contest is designed as an in-class writing assignment centered on introspection and character development. Students are given 90 minutes to craft a 500–700 word essay that connects a true, personal story to a chosen "Law of Life"—a short, wise saying or quote with lasting meaning. Essays must be written in the first person and include narrative elements such as dialogue, description, figurative language, and a clear moment of realization that brings the chosen law to life.
