The Banks County School System is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of its students and staff during the 2024–2025 school year. From academic growth to statewide recognition, Banks County continues to shine. Superintendent, Dr. Ann Hopkins, stated, "We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments our students achieved this past year. These scores are a reflection of their hard work, the dedication of our staff, and the support of our community."
One of this year's top honors came from Banks County Middle School, which was named a Title I Reward School, recognizing significant progress in student performance and growth.
Academic data from the Georgia Milestones Assessments also revealed notable success. At the elementary level, the percentage of students reading on or above grade level increased in every grade level, showcasing the district's focus on literacy and strong foundational learning. Fifth-grade students scored above the RESA percentage in science.
Middle school students also demonstrated impressive performance. Sixth-grade students outperformed both the RESA and state averages in math. Seventh-grade students demonstrated achievement by scoring above the RESA and state averages in both English Language Arts and math. Eighth-grade students also excelled, scoring above the RESA percentage in English Language Arts and surpassing both the RESA and state averages in math, science, physical science, and social studies.
At the high school level, Banks County High School celebrated a four-year graduation rate of 92.7%, surpassing the state average of 87.2%. End-of-Course (EOC) milestone data further highlighted student achievement. Students at Banks County High School scored above the RESA and state averages in Algebra, Biology, and U.S. History. In American Literature, they performed above the RESA average and tied the state average.
Excellence also extended to advanced coursework. On the College Board Advanced Placement Exams, Banks County High School students who scored a level 3 or higher surpassed both the state and global averages in Precalculus and English Language Arts Composition.
District leaders praised these accomplishments as a reflection of student perseverance, teacher dedication, and community support.
Dr. Amanda Dale, Director of School Improvement and Assessment, stated, "These results demonstrate that Banks County is committed to providing a high-quality education that prepares students for future success. From our youngest learners to our graduates, we are proud of the progress being made."
