Banks County High School names 2026 STAR Student and STAR Teacher

Banks County High School is proud to recognize Harper Steele as the school’s 2026 STAR Student and her selected STAR Teacher, Mrs. Elizabeth Ward.

The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program is one of Georgia’s most respected academic honors. A STAR Student is selected based on academic excellence and exceptional performance on the SAT. To be named STAR Student, a graduating senior must earn the highest SAT score in their class on a single test date and rank in the top 10% academically.

As part of the recognition, the STAR Student selects a STAR Teacher—the educator who has made the greatest difference in the student’s academic journey. This honor celebrates teachers who inspire, motivate, and help students reach their highest potential.

Special thanks to Alicia Andrews and the Banks County Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this award and supporting academic achievement in Banks County.
