Banks County High School students Kenadie Howe and Carlie Butler can often be seen playing for the tennis team on the tennis court. But off the court, they share the same passion for the CTAE pathway: Business.

Banks County High School offers numerous CTAE pathways for students, including the JROTC program, which offers the opportunity for high school students to enroll in a leadership/citizenship program coordinated under the umbrella of the Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Division of the Georgia Department of Education.

Banks County Fishing teams competed in the Georgia Bass Nation tournament on Lake Seminole. Kasey Lowe and Braxton Jaworski finished 34th, and Joseph Meadows finished 48th in the High School division.

The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition is to encourage students to develop an enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics. This prestigious competition has been engaging Georgia students for more than two decades and is open to any student currently enrolled in Georgia public schools, grades K-12. The competition is sponsored by the Georgia Language Arts Supervisors (GLAS) and the Georgia RESA Network with support from the Georgia Department of Education.

Banks County Schools is proud to announce the recipient of the prestigious STAR Student scholarship award to Miss Abigail (Abby) Caroline Irvin. The scholarship is sponsored each year by the Banks County Chamber. Teacher Lara Jackson was named as the STAR teacher.

February is CTAE month in Georgia, and Banks County High School celebrated the month by showcasing students who have excelled in an individual program. CTAE Work-Based Learning Coordinator Mrs. Lara Jackson chose Armour for his outstanding work ethic in the Work-Based Learning Program at Banks County High School.

Banks County High School student Ayden Bennett was recently recognized at the Banks County Board of Education meeting for outstanding achievement in his CTAE Automotive Course.

The High School Band and Chorus will present their Mid-Winter "Pre-LGPE" Concert, featuring songs from the Annual District 9 Large Group Performance Evaluation next week.

The concert is Thursday, February 23, at 6:00 pm at the High School Auditorium.
As always, admission is free!

Banks County High School finished 7th at state at the GHSA State Wrestling Championship Meet and left with State Champion Kellon Walley and numerous state places. The team also brought home four state medals. Freshman CJ Maynard placed 5th, freshman Case Hanley placed 5th, and Senior Angel Cruz placed 3rd.

In February, the state of Georgia celebrates career, technical, and agricultural education (CTAE). CTAE Month is a public awareness campaign designed to recognize the value, achievements, and accomplishments of CTAE programs nationwide.
